Andy Z6 is a singer, songwriter, and bass player reshaping the edges of Alternative R&B. Raised in Atlanta and now based in New York City, Andy’s work bridges soul and alternative sound design, blending tender storytelling with textured, cinematic production. A self-taught bassist and studied engineer, Andy crafts music that feels both intimate and architectural; rich with live instrumentation, succinct lyrics, and the emotional pull of human vulnerability.
The breakout single “Green Flags” introduced listeners to an artist who transforms confession into design, earning features in outlets like WUSSY Magazine, NPR/WABE, and Lyrical Lemonade. In 2024, Andy released “Men Like Me,” a sharp, alluring record that deepened the exploration of queer masculinity, power, and desire. With each release, Andy continues to expand the language of R&B centering authenticity, freedom, and a refusal to compromise craft. These themes of breaking barriers influenced the creation of Andy’s own genre of alternative soul: big, bad. r&b.
On stage, Andy has performed at NPR x WABE, Afropunk, Finders Keepers, Aisle 5, and in NYC with Sofar Sounds. Captivating audiences with a presence that is both grounded and ethereal. Now rooted in NYC’s vibrant creative community, Andy is expanding his practice through collaboration connecting sound, fashion, and visual design to build immersive experiences around their music. Andy Z6’s catalog documents the evolution of an artist designing worlds from emotion, where soul music meets self-architecture, and where every lyric builds a space to belong.
